Privacy Policy – Ancient Sky
1) What Ancient Sky does
Ancient Sky is an educational app about astronomy and sky alignments. It may use device sensors and (optionally) your location to show sky information relevant to where you are.
2) Beginner Zone (ages 13+)
Ancient Sky includes a “Beginner Zone” intended for ages 13+. No ads are shown in Beginner Zone. We do not require account creation in Beginner Zone.
3) Data we collect (summary)
Depending on how you use the app and what features are enabled, the app may process:
A) Location (optional)
- If you grant permission, the app may access your approximate or precise location to provide local sky calculations.
- We do not require location permission to use the app; some features may be less accurate without it.
B) App usage & diagnostics
- Basic analytics and crash/performance data (e.g., which screens are used, crash logs) to improve stability and fix bugs.
C) Advertising data (only outside Beginner Zone, if ads are enabled)
- If ads are shown outside Beginner Zone, advertising partners may collect information such as device identifiers (e.g., Advertising ID), ad interaction data, and approximate location derived from IP to serve and measure ads.
- We do not show ads in Beginner Zone.
4) How we use data
We use data to:
- Provide app functionality (e.g., local sky calculations if location is enabled)
- Improve reliability and performance (diagnostics/crash data)
- Display and measure ads outside Beginner Zone (if ads are enabled)
5) Sharing of data
We may share limited data with service providers that help operate the app, such as:
- Analytics / crash reporting providers (if used)
- Advertising providers (if ads are enabled outside Beginner Zone)
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
6) Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from ages 13+ in Beginner Zone, and we do not show ads in Beginner Zone. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at ancient-sky [@] cogito-consultancy[.]com and we will address it.
7) Your choices
- Location: You can allow or deny location permission in your device settings.
- Ads (if present): You can reset or limit the Android Advertising ID in device settings.
- Uninstall: You can remove the app at any time.
8) Data retention
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described above. If we don’t run our own accounts or store personal data on our servers, we generally don’t have user-identifiable data to delete beyond what third-party providers retain under their policies.
9) Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information processed by the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
